- Godegisel died after suffering the siege of his brother Gundobad, whom he had tried to betray to Clovis. He had fortified himself in the city, but when the provisions ran low, he ordered out all the commoners. One man expelled was the artisan of the aqueduct. This man went to Gundobad and led an army inside the city walls where it attacked the defenders from within. Godegisel sought refuge in the church of the heretics and was slain there along with the Arian bishop.
Succeeded with his brother Gundobad as sole rulers of the Burgundians. In 500, Clovis I, King of the Franks, defeated Gundobad with the help of Godigisel. This battle was followed by more between the two brothers. Gundobad killed Godigisel while in an Arian church.
