  • Notes
    • From the book "The Kartchner Family" compiled by Sarah P. Collinwood:
"Vern and Amanda made their home in Logan for the first part of their married life.  Early in their marriage the severe depression of the 1920's caused much concern and suffering and Vern and Amanda were caught in the middle of it.  But in spite of these hard times they were eventually able to have a lovely home which Amanda kept spic and span as she was a good housekeeper and homemaker.
Their home was blessed with three outstanding children; Ruth, Dee & Erma.  Erma later became much interested in genealogy along with her husband.  It was our privilege to meet their son David and his lovely young wife as they visited our home.
Stanley and Linda called on Vern at his home some months after Amanda's death.  Linda said to Vern that "You will find a good woman who will help you find new interest."  He said he never would marry again; however, before another year he learned of an old sweetheart of his had lost her husband.  He looked her up and they were married.  We all enjoyed going to the homes of one another.  In the spring of 1972, Emma passed away.  Herr daughter who was ill was living with them and this extra worry may have been one of the contributing causes of her death.  Since this time Vern has lived alone at Logan, Utah."  by Linda Adams.
