      June 2004: I was in contact with Sheldon Elmer from 4737 N 83rd Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85037. He mailed me a disk of Palmer genenalogy. the information below is from Sheldon Elmer.

      Birth;Name;Death: Wilkinson for his mother's surname, he age 25 in 1828 in 3rd company of First Regiment, Northumberland Militia; Probate called PETITION FOR LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION" TO Distribute his Estate, gave his birth as Feb 1803, that he died 13 Jul 1878 at Hale, Warren, IL, as given by his son Geo. W. Palmer. His wife, Nancy Hurde, not given birth or death or named. He shows in Cramahe until 1841 with family of 11 & religion as Mormon.
      !Joy Hawkins (thru Ira A.Palmer) gives married betw l827-l830, of Cramahe Twp, Marriage record not found. a Zadock Hurd is seen on 1808 Census of Cramahe, possibly Nancy's father.

      Read source from Toronto Archives 6/2000 of Cramahe Township, Newcastle District, Upper Canada, shows us Wilkinson Palmer on l830 Census and Assessment Reel #3, 50 acres (smear), he with wife & one female under l6; l831 he 5 acres cultivated, 45 unclut on his Lot 18, Concession 2, which he had purchased on l7 Aug 1829 from Abel Cummings for 200 pounds, 50 acres. It gave he had 2 females under l6, & one son under, himself and wife, and is on Lot 18, 2 con, N; 1832 8 acres cultivated; 1833 2 males & 2 females under l6; l834 20 acres cultivated on his Lot 18, N; 1835 2 males and 3 females under l6; 1836 Same Lot 18, 2 con with 2 males and 4 females over l6, l837 3 males and 4 females. 1840 on Assessment of Lot 18/2 N.East 32/l8, animals & 1841 on Reel 3 show 2 animals. Census shows Wilkinson with family and it reads that all 11 were Mormon for religion. His bros Elijah and Joshua Palmer show up through all of this Reel 3, he to l841-

      Around 1842 Wilkinson & Nancy moved from Cramahe Township, Northumberland County, Upper Canada, after 1867 known as Ontario Province. They remove to Whiteside Co, Il, USA, they made their home in the vicinty of Prophetstown until 1845 when they removed to Warren County. They located in Hale Township, where Wilkinson rented land until 1851, when a tract of 80 acres was purchase. Eliza Jane was b.in Warren County, IL & Wm was b. in Henderson Co.

      They made their home of logs and was occupied for that purpose for 3 to 4 years. The family then took possession of a new frame house which he built on the homestead. He was good in business relations and was soon able to make purchases until he became owner of 200 acres of land, a portion being in Henderson County. They were proud of their children, they have been very prominent in their townships. Schuyler was Road Commissioner for 17 years. He was a Democrat. George W. was a believer and a supporter of the principles advocated by the Republican party. He owned 135 acres of good tillable land and the major portion of his life was in agriculture. Wife, Nancy died in l863 & as Wilkinson grew older he lived with his son, George W. Palmer. No will, but a Settlement which was divided between his heirs: dau Sarah Young, Schuyler, Ira A., George W., & Minard, & William Palmers, & daus: Manada Darrah, Eliza Jane Whitney.

      Joy's notes gave born while they lived in Cramahe are: Sarah, Schuyler, Ira A., Minard, George W. and Manada. George W. says he is the eighth child. There were eight living children who were accounted for on his Settlement. Nancy had 11. The missing are between Sarah and George W. if he is the eighth child. In references Sarah is always mentioned as first, Joy wonders if in 1850 she was married and away from home, & will try to find her with Jeremiah Young. (She & maybe other sisters are there or even in Whiteside County, IL) 1841 Wilkinson with 4 males & 5 females under l6. Perhpas twins were born & didnt live to come to US, or deaths caused them to leave Canada.

      Young, Battle Creek, Ida, Iowa; Schuyler at Alexis, Warren Co.,IL. Ira A.
      at Mt Ayr, Ringold, IA; Minard, Logan, Warren, IA; Wm W. Shenandoah, Page, IA,
      Manada Ann Darrah, and Eliza J. Whitney at Abington, Knox, IL. George W. at
      Hale, Warren, IL. and had lived near his parents Wilkinson & Nancy Palmer.

      !Xerox of land deed shows as by X-WILKISON Palmer. yoeman, 17 Aug 1829, Cramahe
      Twp from Abel Cummings, for 200 pounds, 50 acres in Lot l8, 2nd concession,
      #2052, page 346, Wilkison Palmer from Abel Cummings dated 22 Sep 1830 (FHL
      F#197799. He shows living by his father, George Sr and bothers, Joshua, Elijah,
      Annis/Anny, Wm & Isaac l828, l832, l834; then by l850, l860 & l870 age 67,
      farmer, his value 4300/500 b. Canada, said his parents-foreign born, didnt read
      or write. His value in l860 was 3750/630, l870 P.O. Monmouth, Hale, Warren, IL.
      Name spelled Wilkinson Palmer in all Illinois Censuses.

      Ira. She was at 724 East 675 North, Ogden, Ut 84404, & ll/l998 from Dorothy,
